Project Manager - Government Partnerships
Faryal is implementing a newly-funded project to tackle plastic pollution in five Small Island Developing States in the Caribbean and Pacific regions.
With 9 years of experience in project management, alongside skills in strategic sustainable development, capacity building and research, Faryal’s work has focussed on international development, delivering bilateral projects in developing and emerging economies. She has also organised major events at international conferences like Climate Week NYC and COP.
Faryal holds an MSc in Sustainability, Entrepreneurship, and Design; an MSc in Climate Change and International Development, plus a Bachelor's in Business Administration. She joined Common Seas to tackle the global challenge of plastic pollution, which she views as a pivotal opportunity to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She is inspired by the potential impact of the forthcoming UN Global Plastics Treaty and is committed to contributing her skills toward Common Seas' vision of a healthy future freed from plastic.
Outside of work, Faryal is a passionate baker, and enjoys taking walks and engaging in creative writing in nature. Growing up in Pakistan, she was inspired by Sir David Attenborough’s documentaries exploring biodiverse ecosystems and beautiful landscapes. She is taking swimming lessons with the goal of scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef to witness the beauty of coral reefs threatened by climate change and plastic pollution. Faryal views this personal challenge as a way to raise awareness about plastic pollution and its impact on human and marine life.
